Busy Brain

I’m sitting here in my living room with my four year old playing with her toys on the floor and my husband reading on his Nexus 7 tablet. I am honestly trying to relax, but the creative and imaginative spirit in me is too anxious and exited to let me sit still. My brain is running in zips and zings with ideas of manuscripts almost to their first draft stage. These manuscripts are:

A Daughter’s Reflection and The History of Watertown, NY

Then I am in the process of reformatting my book The History of Sackets Harbor, New York, so I can add it to the Smashwords.com library. I am also going to add it to Kobo. I have also lowered the price of the Kindle ebook from $6.99 down to $4.99. The more I thought about it, would I really be willing to buy an ebook at $6.99? Not so much. At $4.99, yeah. I would.

I also have some notes I need to work on for Voice4Society. So much is flaring in this brain of mine. I try to relax but knowing I have so much work to do it makes it hard. Being a homemaker and stay at home mom, plus a writer has its challenges. Oh, and then there is school work!

So my task for today….prioritize! And then set a schedule. Ha! (Sorry. An ALF moment there!) I do pretty well prioritizing, it is schedules I find hard to keep because I take my time doing things so I do them right and to enjoy what I. I don’t like rushing anything unless absolutely necessary. Guess we shall see what happens. I know what I really WANT to work on and then what MUST be worked on. It is so hard to put the WANT behind and do what SHOULD be done and what I have committed myself to doing for another. I must do what is right. I shall work on an article for Voice4Society during the day today and then tonight, perhaps that is when I’ll work on my books.

So with that, I am off. To drink some Yerba Mate tea and do some research and study in the Bible. have a great day!

Winghill Writing School & Other Thoughts

Last week I signed up for a memoir writing course through Winghill Writing school. I have three books I’d like to write and all are memoirs, but writing memoirs and organizing them are new to me. I am more of a fiction writer so nonfiction sure is stretching my wings. Hopefully, I’ll learn enough in these few months before the November NaNo that I’ll be able to work on one of these books. If not though, I am sure I’ll be able to come up with a fiction novel for November. Have had some inspiration lately so we’ll see what comes of it and what happens in the next few months with schooling and developing a story for the November NaNo.

My writing style and interests have changed quite a bit over the past seven or so years. I used to be more heavily into the fantasy stuff, but now I am finding myself drifting toward historical fiction. That is a newer area for me, but I am finding it interesting the time periods I like and the research that needs to be done. Good think I like writing AND researching. Certainly believe this writing and researching and the patience to do it all until a work of completion is a gift from God. I know I have had many people tell me they don’t know how I write things so easily or come up with so much to write. To tell the truth, I don’t know either, unless it is God guiding me to ideas and stories, and I believe He is. I always try to keep God in EVERYTHING I do.

So, for tonight, since I have a busy and long day tomorrow, I will end the evening with some candles, light music, and some Bible study. I know keeping a close relationship with God will drive me in the right direction in life and to what I should be doing that will help others in their lives. I may not know how, but I know God does. I leave tonight, with best wishes for all and a good night’s rest or a very good morning, depending on what part of the world you are on.

May God bless you daily and surprise you signs that He is there, helping you along.

Good night,

Janis

Secret Anguish, Writing Updates

Secret Anguish Book Update

This morning I took the time to go through my book Secret Anguish: A Journey to Better Health and realized it is not as finished as I once thought it was. I have a few things to add to the book since as my recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder, but really it isn’t far from being finished.

I’m still trying to decided on whether or not to self publish this book or try to commercially publish. It’s so hard to decide these days. Either way there are no guarantees. I even recorded a video as I have started video blogging to go with my regular blogs. I have posted the video of You Tube but I will see about either embedding the video in the blog itself or just pasting the link here. Grrr! I am using the WordPress App for Ipad and it doesn’t have a way to add video or even pictures into your blog. How frustrating. Now I have to go to the site to ad the video. Bother! Thought this app was going to make things a little simpler but I guess not. Anyhoo, I will post the video to my blog if I can.

Take care and God bless.
