This is so exciting for me. When I started out writing it was for the pure enjoyment of creating something from my imagination and then later did I decide to publish. At the time, there was only traditional publishing available, or should I say that was all I knew of since I didn’t, yet, own a computer. But now there are so many avenues to publishing and in so many different formats it is unbelievable! It is so exciting to be an author at this day in age where the world of publishing is open to all formats of writing as well as many formats to publish your work in, allowing you to reach your audience in a shorter amount of time than by way of a traditional publisher. I am not trying to come down on traditional publishers here. I am just in awe…reflecting on the extent of changes in the publishing industry.

Well, I am off now. I have an article to work on and dinner to make!

God bless!

Camp NaNoWriMo

August Camp NaNo Day 17

Okay, so today is day 17 of the August 2012 Camp NaNo. I have made some good headway on my book. I hope to work more on it tonight. I’m currently listening to the podcast Books on the Nightstand and it is so inspiring me to write. I also like to listen to the Creative Penn Podcast. I get both of these through iTunes and listen to them on my ipod nano or through iTunes. It depends on where I am writing either on the computer or with pen and paper.

So far my book has an epigraph, dedication, and at least two chapters. I hope to add to that tonight as long as my 3yr old goes to bed okay. She is a night owl so it’s hard. But, I really believe this book on my experience with depression and anxiety attacks and how I got through the bulk of it to that Mountain Top, and trying each day, to maintain where I am, will really help others. It’s not easy to write, I must say. Some times I just want to stop writing because emotions are just going crazy. This all started with death of my mother about 13 years ago, so even though time as gone by, the pain never completely goes away. There is always a little that lingers. A lot of this book so far is my journal entries I kept the four months I was caring for my mother. I have them down, but will have to go through them for spelling errors, etc. Not really looking forward to that, but I know it needs to be done.

Please, pray for me on writing this book. It is hard to do to to bring back some of this stuff. But even if one person benefits, it was all worth it.

The Gluten Free Directory

Busy Day of Writing While Listening to The Creative Penn Podcast

Worked all day and most of the night on The Gluten Free Directory. I could work more, but I accomplished quite a bit and think I need to go rest for now. It’s after midnight where I am. Need my rest to take care of a sick husband and daughter tomorrow.

So I started out with only 44 companies offering gluten free products and I don’t just mean food. I am also referring to gluten free supplements, gluten free dog food too, something I was surprised to see. My list has grown to about 200 companies and my edit of this book has only just begun. Can you imagine how many companies I’ll have when this book is finished…well…tentatively finished, since it is a book that will constantly have to be updated to include the most up to date information.

This evening, while I was working on the book, I was listening to podcasts from Joanna Penn from The Creative Penn. Listening to her talk to other Indie authors and marketers is very inspiring and relaxing. I didn’t feel alone in my work, hearing other authors go through a lot to get a book written, published, and then marketed. Everyone seemed to have various methods on how they became successful.  Love this podcast and subscribed to it through iTunes. Highly recommend it.

I think podcasts may be in my future, but I need to read up about it. So we’ll see. Right now I’ll stick to You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Linked In, besides updating this blog.

So that is what I have been up today. Think it is about time to say good night. Will probably work on the book again tomorrow. Night everyone!
