Playtime with Amazon’s Search Engine and Selling Prompts

Playtime with Amazon’s Search Engine and Selling Prompts. by Jason Matthews is a great article on how to use Amazon’s search engine to generate keywords for your book. The keywords can be use in your title, interior book content, and in the keyword section of KDP. I think this would work for Create Space as well.

Some great advice here and something we Indie Authors need to keep in mind.

Thanks, Jason!

Amazon Author Central

Tonight I finally did it! I visited Germany, France, Japan, and the UK all in one night!! Alright, alright so it was just to their Amazon Author Central pages, but still. I set up my author central page at each of these in hopes of letting other potential readers learn a little more about me and get to see my lovely face. 😉 If you are looking to add your author profile to these sites here are the links:

UK – https://authorcentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/landing?

Germany – https://authorcentral.amazon.de/gp/landing?

France – https://authorcentral.amazon.fr/gp/landing?

Japan – https://authorcentral.amazon.co.jp/gp/landing?

I also tried looking for the author central pages for Spain, India, Italy, Canada, China and Brazil but they don’t have them yet. I will keep my eyes peeled and pass along other updates.

Cheers!

This is so exciting for me. When I started out writing it was for the pure enjoyment of creating something from my imagination and then later did I decide to publish. At the time, there was only traditional publishing available, or should I say that was all I knew of since I didn’t, yet, own a computer. But now there are so many avenues to publishing and in so many different formats it is unbelievable! It is so exciting to be an author at this day in age where the world of publishing is open to all formats of writing as well as many formats to publish your work in, allowing you to reach your audience in a shorter amount of time than by way of a traditional publisher. I am not trying to come down on traditional publishers here. I am just in awe…reflecting on the extent of changes in the publishing industry.

Well, I am off now. I have an article to work on and dinner to make!

God bless!

“Once Within A Lifetime” Book Formatting

Wow! I cannot believe how long it has been since I have posted something. I have been so busy helping an elderly friend format her book Once Within A Lifetime into Kindle and paperback forms via CreateSpace. I also worked with her ideas to create the cover of the book. A few days ago I finished the book cover and yesterday I finished formatting the book for Kindle. I have learned many lessons along the way just about publishing on Kindle.

When I first started publishing my own books on Kindle, I just formatted them the way a book would be formatted to go to a traditional publisher. I had no idea at the time that there was a specific way to format books to look there best on a Kindle. So this time, I used my PC Kindle Reader and used the book: Building Your Book For Kindle

Wish I had known of this book when I published my first Kindle books. I know I will have to go back and redo at least one of them.

Today I finished formatting Once Within A Lifetime for CreateSpace using a 6×9 book template from the CreateSpace website.

I finished the book cover using images from www.morguefile.com and the software programs Picasa and Gimp.

I still have a lot to learn in the book design and marketing/promotion area but I know that will come in time as I continue reading on the subjects and practicing.

Once Within In A Lifetime is available in Kindle format and soon to be in paperback format. The next format after that would be audiobook through www.acx.com.

God bless, and may God guide you through all your writing and publishing adventures!

The Ultimate Decision

In this day in age when you have self publishing, print on demand publishing and traditional publishing on really has to decide which is best for them. For some it is self publishing and print on demand. I’ve done both. I have six books published on Kindle and through CreateSpace, problem is I don’t feel “published”. I don’t feel the great joy that comes with making it with a traditional publisher.

So I have made the great decision to pull two books, The History of Sackets Harbor, New York, and A Daughter’s Reflection, off the market to try and get them traditionally published. I know this will take longer and probably will go through several rejections. I’m no stranger to this process as I first tried this before any other type of publishing. I also have two other books not yet finished but working on: Secret Anguish: A Journey to Better Health, and The History of Watertown, New York, I would also like to publish traditionally.

Today begins the hunt for a literary agent. Time to grab some Teeccino and open the Writer’s Market. Wish me luck!

Have a great day everyone and God bless!

Janis
