The History of Sackets Harbor, NY Gets New Look!

Lately I have been going through my books and creating newer, and I think, better looking covers. I will show you the first cover for The History of Sackets Harbor, NY I created using CreateSpace‘s cover design, and the second cover I created using http://www.ipiccy.com

The History of Sackets Harbor, New York - Paperback cover
The History of Sackets Harbor, New York – Paperback cover

Second cover for book.
Second cover for book.

My husband likes the first cover and I am going for the second because it looks more historical which goes with the content of the book. Which one do you like better?

I have also updated the description of the book as I learn to write better book descriptions. I just pray some of these changes will make a big difference in reaching people and attracting them. I guess we’ll see since I know with the books I have published, the market for them is relatively small. Still, I’m gonna keep tryin’!

I sent them a letter, with an author biography and picture, and page detailed with book information and a picture. I pray God has His hand on these efforts. We shall see what happens. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Sackets Harbor

Press Release – The History of Sackets Harbor, New York

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Glenburn, Maine, March 27, 2012 – Have you ever visited the historic village of Sackets Harbor, NY, located off the eastern end of Lake Ontario? If you have, then know about the village’s rich historical background. If you haven’t, there is a world to explore in the village, not only in its present state, but in its history.

In her new book, The History of Sackets Harbor, New York, author Janis I. Monroe, formerly of Watertown, New York, talks about the various areas of the history of the village of Sackets Harbor. She begins with the founding of the village in 1801 by New York City lawyer Augustus Sackett. Further chapters explore the village’s role in the War of 1812, The Battle of Big Sandy, when railroads came to the villages, fires that broke out, and the forts of the village.

The book will enlighten readers to Sackets Harbor’s history and the people who helped to build the village. Photographs accompany the writing and take you deeper into the history. The book is available in both paperback and Kindle editions.

Ms. Monroe created this book when she found there was not a book written about the history of Sackets Harbor and wanted to show people the history of the village and the importance of its existence in War History and American History.

Her connection to the village came when she went to school there and spent time there with friends. She picked up pieces of history along the years and continued to become even more curious about the full history behind the village. Sackets Harbor, NY is one of Ms. Monroe’s favorite places to be when she visits her family back in her hometown, of Watertown, NY.

Ms. Monroe currently lives in Maine and has published several articles for the Yahoo Contributor Network and has four poetry books published, and one memoir, besides The History of Sackets Harbor, New York. She has been writing since 1999, and continues to pursue this career while helping other authors along the way, by offering to interview other authors, review their books, and offers some light editing on their manuscripts. Monroe’s current project is The Gluten Free Directory which she hopes to release sometime next year, at the latest.

Monroe is available for interviews via phone, Skype, email, snail mail, or instant messenger (Yahoo, Google Talk). To follow Monroe on her writing journey visit her blog at http://janismonroe.wordpress.com

The History of Sackets Harbor, New York can be found at: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1463684428 or to request review copies please email the author at jimonroe05@gmail.com.

Camp NaNoWriMo, Sackets Harbor, Writing Updates

Kindle Books

I’ve been busy today putting together some small poetry manuscripts for Kindle. The three that I published today were: Heat of the Night: A Collection of Poetry on Love, Day & Night: A Collection of Nature Poetry, and Everlasting Arms: A Collection of Religious Poetry. I think I had them set to sell for $0.99 but I will have to double check that. I also published, The History of Sackets Harbor, New York. Once the links become available for these works I will put up another post. Now that those are done I am going to get to work on Facade. I still need to work on some background information for characters and the bare bones of an outline all before tomorrow when Camp NaNo starts. Shall be fun! Sure can’t wait for tomorrow! I check back in then!
