Camp NaNoWriMo

Camp NaNo Preparation

Here I am, sitting at my desk, in the early evening, feel happy, but exhausted from the busy day with Church and then a family gathering and adventures outside. It is that time again. Camp NaNo is going to be starting in several hours and I am preparing myself to finish a novel I started last two years ago during my first Camp NaNo called Facade. I am planning to finish the story this time around. If you visit my page: you will be able to see information about me and a link to my story. Here is a brief on what Facade (title in the works) is about:

Wesley and Keith Pierce are born in Tupelo, Mississippi on June 6, 1935. Wesley goes on to become a rock star while Keith remains a farmhand. After a few years of touring, Wesley demands a vacation and travels north to New York. He is in New York City but the rush of the city becomes more than Wesley can handle. He longs for quiet and solitude. He jumps in a car and drives into Northern New York. His car breaks down on Sulpher Springs Road. With a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, he walks three miles down the road to the nearest house. This is where Wesley meets Christine Duncan, a good old country girl. Wesley becomes so involved in Christine’s life on the family farm that he pushes his music career out of his mind. He has found something more important to him than music.

Wesley’s brother Keith becomes concerned when Wesley doesn’t come home in the time frame he said he would be home. Keith sets out to find Wesley and tracks him down. Keith is already jealous of Wesley’s fame, but becomes enraged with jealousy when he finds Wesley with a girl (Christine). Keith feels Wesley gets everything so easily when he, Keith, has to fight for everything. Keith gets his brother to return home and continue his singing career saying that he would bring Christine on the next flight back to Tupelo. Wesley agrees to return home. However, Christine is blind to what’s happening. Wesley returns home, but Keith remains at Christine’s side and pretends to be Wesley. At first Christine believes in Keith’s facade, but the longer the relationship goes on, the more Christine sees things that are not characteristic of Wesley. It’s not until Christine watches a televised concert at one of her friend’s place does she spot Wesley on TV. It is then she puts things together and uses her friend’s phone and calls Wesley’s home. She leaves a message with Wesley’s dad, but will Wesley receive her message and save Christine from Keith’s destructive grasp?

I am reworking some names that I didn’t quite like the first time around but am more comfortable with now. Just need to rework one name and then I’ll reread what I had written last time around and see what I need to do to pick up where I left off. I am shooting to write 50,000 words this coming month.

What is your word going to be for April’s Camp NaNo? Are you working on fiction, nonfiction, poetry? I’d love to hear from you!

Best of luck to everyone participating this month! I am also going to have daily updates on my progress.

“Once Within A Lifetime” Book Formatting

Wow! I cannot believe how long it has been since I have posted something. I have been so busy helping an elderly friend format her book Once Within A Lifetime into Kindle and paperback forms via CreateSpace. I also worked with her ideas to create the cover of the book. A few days ago I finished the book cover and yesterday I finished formatting the book for Kindle. I have learned many lessons along the way just about publishing on Kindle.

When I first started publishing my own books on Kindle, I just formatted them the way a book would be formatted to go to a traditional publisher. I had no idea at the time that there was a specific way to format books to look there best on a Kindle. So this time, I used my PC Kindle Reader and used the book: Building Your Book For Kindle

Wish I had known of this book when I published my first Kindle books. I know I will have to go back and redo at least one of them.

Today I finished formatting Once Within A Lifetime for CreateSpace using a 6×9 book template from the CreateSpace website.

I finished the book cover using images from and the software programs Picasa and Gimp.

I still have a lot to learn in the book design and marketing/promotion area but I know that will come in time as I continue reading on the subjects and practicing.

Once Within In A Lifetime is available in Kindle format and soon to be in paperback format. The next format after that would be audiobook through

God bless, and may God guide you through all your writing and publishing adventures!

Indie AuthorArtist Book Catalog

Okay I had this idea of creating a catalog of books created by Indie Authors. This idea just popped into my head today.

So far the catalog would include:
Author biographies (brief)
Author pictures
Book covers
Book information including formats they are available in, price, page length, summary
Links to books
Links to author site/blog
Who created your book covers

If you have any ideas to add to this, or would like to take part in this, please feel free to contact me via email with all of the above information. Please, don’t forget to tell me what genres your books are in.

I look forward to hearing from you!

General Updates

I sit here in a quiet house, everyone asleep, and the clock is about to tick midnight, Ah and so it did, On February 28th, I had surgery on my left hand for severe carpal tunnel syndrome. My hand is healing nicely and only have pain once in a while or if I accidently stretch my hand and pull the stitches.

On Thursday I get the stitches removed and then I’ll find out what comes after that.

It has been a challenge typing one-handed and things take longer to get done. It was frustrating at first, but I have learned to be patient with myself, as well as reminding myself that this is temporary.

Not sure when I’ll be back to writing regularly, but I will keep you all updated! So thankful God made me ambidextrous. I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t.

My best to all and God bless!
